At Hindley Green Community Primary School, we believe that Personal Development is at the heart of everything we do. As part of QUEST, our aim is to nurture confident, resilient and compassionate children who feel a strong sense of belonging and are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our Personal Development curriculum is carefully planned, sequenced and woven throughout school life. It provides children with a broad and meaningful range of experiences that support their personal, social, emotional, physical and cultural development, helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, character and confidence they need to lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

We are committed to creating a caring, safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, accepted and listened to. Children are encouraged to express themselves, share their opinions and celebrate the diversity of others. Through our Personal Development provision, children develop an understanding of how to keep themselves safe, how to look after their physical and mental wellbeing, and how and when to seek help and support.

We support children to develop resilience, confidence and a growth mindset, enabling them to embrace challenges, learn from experiences and recognise their own strengths and talents. Children learn about their rights and responsibilities, relationships, equality, diversity, citizenship and the role they can play in contributing positively to their school, local community and wider society.

Our Personal Development provision develops children’s:

We believe that children’s development extends far beyond the classroom. Through our enrichment programme, we provide opportunities for every child to discover new interests, develop talents, build confidence and create lasting memories.

Our children benefit from a wide range of experiences, including educational visits, residential opportunities, sporting activities, music and the arts, clubs, leadership opportunities, community activities and experiences linked to the world of work. We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to a broad and meaningful range of experiences, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our careers and employer engagement opportunities begin from an early age, helping children to understand the world around them, recognise the importance of their skills and begin to develop aspirations for their future.
